Find A Good Joint Mobilization Therapy Expert

By Rosella Campbell

Many people tend to suffer from some kind of pain when moving certain joints of the body. When the pain becomes unbearable it is best to see a specialist, this is then called joint mobilization therapy. It is a manual intervention on the synovial joint targeting a specific place to achieve a therapeutic effect.

Articular capsule is an envelope that surrounds the synovial joint and each of these has two layers. The outer or the stratum fibrosum is made up of avascular white fibrous tissue. The next is the inner or stratum which is a secreting layer and is normally described as the synovial membrane. The fibrous membrane is attached to the whole circumference of the articular end of the bone entering the joint. These are made up of dense irregular connective tissue.

A gliding or plane type is the carpals of the wrist and has a sliding movement between the vertebrae. The hinge is the elbow and this is more like a door hinge that allows extension and flexion. The condyloid joints are where two bones fit together with an odd shape; one is concave the other convex. These joints allow for adduction, abduction extension and flexion movements.

The muscles and joints need to be treated together at the same time. If any muscles are feeling tight and are loosened with treatment the taught joint capsules will still be with less movement and will eventually cause the muscles to become tight again. This is the main reason why massage therapists and chiropractors work together.

Most chiropractors prefer to have the client go to the massage therapist after their consultation as this will ease their schedule as this usually only takes a few minutes. Many patients normally prefer to go to the therapists first so that the muscles and other fascial tissues are already loosened. If the adjustment is done with too much force it will be very uncomfortable and could even trigger the muscle to go into spasm. The looser the muscles are the easier and more successful the results will be.

The primary joints that are normally affected are the hips, ankles, thoracic spine and the shoulders. These can limit your ability to perform even the most mundane things and can lead to injuries. Many athletes are advised to do some warm up exercises so that their joints can respond easier when asked to move. The more one does warm-up with stretches and exercises that better the joints will work.

Osteopathy is a type of alternative medicine and claim that the wellbeing of a person is all about their muscles, bones, ligaments and connective tissue functioning well together. They require having special training in the musculoskeletal system. Their primarily treatment is of stretching, massaging and moving muscles and joints which help the body to heal itself quicker.

With mobilization therapy, this can be corrected but can take up to a few months. It is a method of slowly bringing the joints back into motion without any fast actions. Always ask your doctor before you start any exercises especially if you have had a previous injury.
