In any case, the safest way is to buy a pure protein, with no additives at all.

Is it advisable to consume a protein supplement to lose weight on daily basis depends on your eating habits. It won't be very helpful if you still eat sweets all day long. It should help you keeping your eating habits under control, and the rest is up to you. The best thing you can do for your health and for you figure too, is to eat healthy fruits and vegetables every day instead of spending your time eating junk food and sweets.
