We all recognize that the best foods to consume when we want to lose weight are healthy fats, whole grains and lean meats. These will be the foods that give us all protein and energy. They keep the body nutritionally balanced with minimal calories while we work hard to reduce our fat at the gym. Are you aware, however, that some of the foods you've been thinking are good for your diet program could actually be making you retain weight? They can also be making you gain extra pounds! Sports Drinks tend not to truly help you. You've most likely been told that if you need to help your body replenish itself after a work out, you should drink a sports drink. Most doctors will let you know, though, that if your exercise routine isn't going to go over ninety minutes then you should be fine just by drinking water. Sports drinks are full of sugar and calories and a massive amount of other things you don't need including artificial flavors and colors which defeat any attempts at eating only natural products. Choose chocolate milk for your drink as an alternative. The sugar in chocolate may help your muscles start to mend themselves and the calcium in the milk will strengthen your bones.

Skip the protein shakes. Lots of folks are convinced having a protein shake is a good way to curb cravings between meals. When you're eating an usually healthy diet, however, a protein shake simply sends you into protein overdose. No matter what others believe, protein is not stashed in the muscles, it is stored in your body as fat. If you've already consumed your daily allotment of protein that day, your system will just keep the extra in your fat cells for later and that won't allow you to drop pounds or inches.



Pre-packaged deli meat isn't really healthy at all. You might believe that a sandwich crafted from whole wheat bread and pre-packaged lean deli meat makes for a good lunch. The real truth is that pre-packaged deli meat has a massive amount preservatives and can provide you with about a third of your recommended sodium ingestion for the day. This can be specifically problematic if you are prone to heart disease. Instead of purchasing the pre-packaged stuff, you ought to instead use home cooked poultry or freshly sliced meat from your grocery store's deli counter. Yes you are going to spend more money for these options but you will be healthier if you choose them.

There are a massive amount things that we imagine will help us shed pounds like eating a whole wheat bagel each morning but the truth is that eating a bowl of oatmeal sprinkled with cinnamon is a lot better for our health and waist lines. Ask a medical expert which food items are right for you and then have those. If you pay attention and are careful about which kind of food you let yourself eat, losing weight isn't going to be a terribly big deal.
