The Soy Vitamins And Their Health Benefits

When enjoying any soy product, be assured that you are not missing out. It has most of the nutrients you need to. In fact, it can be compared to the whole dairy milk in terms of nutritional content. It has protein, carbohydrates, calcium, and phosphorus. The main soy vitamins that help in the fight against diseases include vitamin A, vitamin B12, and riboflavin among others.

The vitamin B12 is among the most talked about vitamins found in the soy products. It is among the B-complex vitamins and plays a central role in cell division, the DNA synthesis, and in the proper nervous system functioning.

This vitamin does not naturally occur in plant products naturally, can be found in most fortified plant foods and other vitamin B12 supplements. With its role in the DNA synthesis, cell division and nervous system, the deficiency can cause neurological damage and even a given type of anemia (improper blood cell formation).

Unfortunately, this is not one of the vitamins that is easily available in plant based products, it is more available in animal products like eggs, meat, cheese, milk, and other related products. However, it is found in plenty in the soy products and this explains why it offers the best alternative to the vegetarians and those who are conscious of the animal products. With just a single serving, you can get up to 50% of your daily requirement of vitamin B12 from the soybean products.

Eating a raw carrot is common for many people, all who say that they are after the vitamin A that it is known for. Although this is true, vitamin A is found in plenty in most other plant based products, whether cooked or raw.

Vitamin B2 also known as Riboflavin is the other important vitamin you are guaranteed from the soybean products. This is a vitamin that has a big role to play on how the protein is used in the body. In addition to this, it determines the growth of body tissues like the eyes, skin and other tissues and the repair of the same tissues. Although it is available from a wide variety of diet including the fortified breakfast cereals, spinach, avocado, broccoli, yeast extract, meat, and almonds, soybeans remain the best source of this vitamin.

The Riboflavin (vitamin B2) is also the other common of the vitamins found in the soy products. It is used to help in the growth and repair the body tissues. In addition to this, it plays the main role in converting proteins to the usable amino acids in the body. The growth and repair of skin tissues, eye tissues and other tissues largely depends on the presence of vitamin B2.

The soybeans also contain recommended levels of minerals like phosphorous needed for bone formation, facilitation of B-complex vitamin usage and extraction of energy from proteins, fats and carbohydrates. The other mineral is the potassium that is required by the body to regulate the acidity balance of the body. The protein found in soy product is also helpful for the formation of lean muscles, and is healthy as it is not associated with cholesterol.
