How To Nail An Orthopedic Physical Therapy Job Interview

By Marjorie Richards

You might want to become a therapist. If you do, then you better apply to a clinic that will have a use for your specialty. If you are good at orthopedic physical therapy Portland, then you have to send in your application for that job. You need to prepare your requirements such as your resume, clearances, permits, and other credentials.

When the potential employers find your resume appealing, then you will be scheduled to attend for a job interview. This is when you will be doing your pitch to get the job. It is the time for employers to observe you well. If you want the job, then here are the things you can do to nail the job interview scheduled for you.

First, you must arrive at the office earlier. Give it 15 minutes of leeway and you can have the time to compose yourself before the actual interview. This can be a time for you to review notes or go to the restroom. You can also use this time to fill out required paperwork that will be asked of you during the interview.

In doing the interview, you must maintain your presence of mind. It is imperative that you listen to the questions asked as carefully as you can and then answer them thoroughly. Avoid stumbling over your words as well as using conversational slangs. These are forbidden in business conversations. Be confident with your answers too.

The question where the interviewer asks you more about yourself really means you should tell the interviewer what personality traits and background information you have that can establish you in this field. This is the question where you can build up your qualifications for the position you are applying for.

Another question you might be asked with is more about your strengths and weaknesses. For the strengths, it should be quite easy for you to answer at least three positive things regarding yourself. However, the weaknesses might be a bit difference. Prepare some quasi-strength in disguise for this, ensuring that these weaknesses are just covered strengths.

You might also be asked what you want to be doing in the next five years. If you want to become a lawyer within five years and you are just using this job as a temporary one, you might want to keep that to yourself. Instead, you should imagine a future where you are holding down a position where your PT job is useful.

You must prepare a few examples for your work successes. You will be retelling these stories to the interviewer, after all. With these stories, the said employer can determine how you deal with particular challenges. Your experiences for the work can be measured when you can provide the examples for these.

Confrontational interviews can also happen at times. However, you should not be shocked at such interviews. After all, the said interviews are meant to weed out the candidates who are not capable of reacting well to confrontation or pressure. You must maintain a professional demeanor, as if nothing unusual is happening. You must be cool and confident in front of the interviewer.
